We are as diverse as the women we serve. What we have in common is a commitment and vow: to aid women in ensuring immediate safety; to offer a sensitive, personally empowering response to trauma; to provide advocacy and support navigating the complexities of the social service, health care and justice systems; to assist in opening doors to community resources; to give encouragement in the exploration and increased participation in areas of expressed strengths, personal meaning, interest and healing activities; and to secure every woman’s financial independence. To achieve these goals, members of our society have taken continuing and specialized education courses, have drawn on our professional backgrounds and on all other resources at our disposal.
